HENRY

This surname is derived from the name of an ancestor. 'the son of Henry'; v. Harries. Henryson is extremely rare, the early change into Henderson having become alike popular and permanent.

ROBERT HENRY (1815-1880)

bert Henry married Jane Hall March 12, 1842 at  Bethany Chapel in Manchester, Jamaica. At the time they were living in Mile Gully district. I believe they are my great great grandparents.  On their marriage record Robert is listed as a labourer but he later became a policeman. He died November 27 1880 at the Parochial Hospital in St. Ann. Jane died a few years later in 1901 in Higgin Town , St Ann's Bay, St. Ann. Henry Lynch was the informant on her death registration.

Ellen "Elsie" jane henry (1844-?)

On September 8, 1844 Robert and Jane had a daughter Ellen Jane a.k.a. "Elsie Jane".  Elsie was born in Dry Harbour, Saint Ann where she became the partner of my great grandfather Robert Redway and they raised their family there. It appears that neither Elsie or Robert  ever married. You can read more on their family on the REDWAY page.

I have documented 9 children for my great grandmother, 7 with my great grandfather and two other others:

FLORISTER MATLIDA McNAUGHTON (1881-1947)

Born April 25, 1881 in Dumbarton, Dry Harbour, St. Ann, Florister was known by "Florella" and her surname was at times transcribed as "McNorton". She was the daughter of George McNaughton and married Charles Septimus Edwards on February 20, 1902 in Duncans, Trelwany. Florella and Charles (who seems to have gone by Septimus) had 15 children.

ENINGUIORA AGUSTAS BLACK (1879-?)

Eninguiora Agustas was born May 22, 1879 in Dumbarton. I suspect her name may have been mis-transcribed. To date I have found no other information for her.
